People came from around the metroplex to enjoy the Arlington Public Library's presentation of the 12^th annual Medieval Arts Festival on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

More than 1,000 people witnessed George W. Hawkes Central Library turn into a medieval fairground for a day of fun and education for the whole family. Sixteen gorgeously costumed members of the Society For Creative Anarchism gave all attendees a peek into the distant past with fighting demonstrations, weaponry, textile arts, medieval crafts and more.

The Arlington Public Library provided a wonderful Princess Story Time performed by two Early Learning librarians that featured some fantastical stories and a castle-themed picture frame craft. Several schools, including UTA and Seguin High School, encouraged students to attend and participate, then write about their experience in a report. Door prizes were provided by Medieval Times, Theatre Arlington and Scarborough Renaissance Festival

Some of the best participant stories from the event included:

• A little boy at the festival overheard saying, "I am the King of Peace" as he put on his paper crown.
• One young man bringing his own chess set with him to participate in the event for the third year in a row.
• A four year old girl clutching a postcard that she had gotten from Tucker Head Start Child Development Center, visibly excited about attending the Medieval Arts Festival.
• A young lady stating that if she lived in the Middle Ages she would pretend to be a boy so she could be a knight or maybe she would be like Joan of Arc.
