This year's men's and women's intercollegiate basketball teams and Movin' Mavs Wheelchair teams were introduced Tuesday, Oct. 28, during Maverick Madness at College Park Center.
Doors opened for the general public at 6:30 p.m. and students, faculty, friends and family came out to meet the newest Mavericks and their coaches and watch them show off their skill.
"This is our chance to see who the new basketball players are, connect with them and see and hang out with friends," Terina Smith, Broadcast Communication senior, said. " I wouldn't want to miss this."
Maverick Madness began its tradition in 2007 and was held at Texas Hall and the Mavericks Activity Center before this year's venue.
Music blasted in the background as the players were introduced and carried out full-court drills. Cheer and dance squads and wranglers performed throughout the event, radiating school spirit. After the event ended, fans were given the opportunity to meet and congratulate team members and take pictures with them on the court.
"I just want to wish the teams the best of luck this season," Smith said. "We're here to support them."
With the Movin' Mavs and Lady Movin' Mavs both dreaming of a national championship, see how UTA helps these dynamic athletes achieve dreams on and off the court.
