Opening Weekend at Six Flags Over Texas

You don't want to miss the start of the 2015 season at Six Flags Over Texas! Your first chance to return to the park will be this weekend, Saturday, February​ 28 and Sunday, March​ 1. To celebrate Opening Weekend in Arlington, the park is offering exclusive discounts on funnel cakes and admission tickets, and they will have other great perks and surprises all weekend long. Six Flags Over Texas will be open both days in The American Dream City from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Park hours vary throughout the 2015 season, so please visit the Six Flags Over Texas website for more information. The Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series & The American Rodeo

The second annual Western Sports Weekend returns to AT&T Stadium in The American Dream City this weekend! Iron Cowboy VI is one of two bull riding events this weekend at the stadium. A total purse of $150,000 is up for grabs in this one-night only bracket-style event. It takes place Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at 5:50 p.m. On Sunday, March 1, it's The American Rodeo at AT&T Stadium. The largest single-day cash prize rodeo in history offers a total purse of $2 million. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. Ticket prices vary. They can be purchased at the AT&T Stadium Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.

Disney's The Little Mermaid JR.

Theatre Arlington continues to present a Disney classic this weekend the whole family can enjoy! Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. takes the audience on a journey "under the sea " with Ariel and her aquatic friends. Shows are Friday & Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. The Little Mermaid JR. runs until March 8 at Theatre Arlington and then moves to UTA's Texas Hall for special performances on March 17 and 18. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. No children under the age of three are permitted.

CATS Presents Tomie de Paola's Strega Nona

Arlington's premiere children's theatre, CATS (Creative Arts Theatre & School) brings to life the pages of a beloved children's literary classic with Tomie de Paola's Strega Nona. Directed by Jason Walker, featuring an eight-member cast of youth performers, CATS alumni and a veteran CATS instructor, this musical will delight the whole family! The play runs until this Sunday, March 1. Saturday at 2:30 & 7:30 and Sunday at 2:30. Tickets are $10-$12 and are on sale now at www.creativearts.org or you can call (817) 861-2287. The CATS Black Box is located at 602 E. South St. in Arlington.

Levitt Pavilion Arlington Presents Matt the Electrician

Everyone loves a free concert! This Friday, Levitt Pavilion Arlington presents Matt the Electrician at 8 p.m. and don't worry about the cold weather because this show will be inside. The concert will take place at South Street Patio on East South Street. From college and Facebook friends to customer service, Matt crafts sharp narratives with equal measures heart and humor for a relatable evening of singing and songwriting at its folksy, quirky best. 20th Annual UT Arlington Benefit POWWOW

The Native American Student Association or NASA will host the 20th Annual Benefit POWWOW on Saturday, February 28. The event will include traditional food, dances, music, singing, raffles, and vendors and a special appearance by Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck. NASA received UTA's 2014 Outstanding Student Organization President Award and the group was one of eight student organizations across the nation to be featured in College Guide for American Indians published by Winds of Change in 2005. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

"Into the Woods' at UT Arlington

Some UT Arlington theatre students are bringing James Lapine's book "Into the Woods " to life through a vibrant musical featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The show runs through Sunday, March 1. The story includes characters such as Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, a baker and his wife who wish to have a child and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. Everyone gets their wish granted, but the story does not end there. The consequences of their actions return to haunt them, resulting in a journey full of surprises. Tickets are $12 for the general public and $9 for students, UTA staff and seniors. Feb. 27 at 8 pm, Feb. 28 at 8 pm and March 1 at 2:30 pm.
