Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos has announced the selection of Bruce Chambers and Kim Peach as assistant directors of athletics.
Chambers most recently served as an assistant football coach and football recruiting coordinator at the University of Texas at Austin since 1998. Prior to his time at Texas, Chambers was at Carter High School in the Dallas ISD from 1984 to 1997, the last two seasons as the head football coach and athletic director. Chambers also coached for one year at Dallas Bishop Dunne High School. While at Texas, Chambers coached running back Ricky Williams during his senior season as he won the Heisman Trophy. Chambers also recruited and coached Vince Young, Cedric Benson and Jamaal Charles. Chambers has a bachelor 's degree from the University of North Texas.
Kim Peach has been an assistant principal at Gunn Junior High since 2012. Prior to that, she was a teacher and assistant cheerleading coach at Arlington High School from 2007 to 2012. She also volunteered as an athletics administrator in the AISD Athletics Department from 2010 to 2011. Peach was a teacher and the head girls soccer coach at Mansfield High School from 2002 to 2007. She also was a teacher and the head girls soccer coach and assistant volleyball coach at Arlington High School from 1996 to 2002. Peach has a bachelor 's degree from the University of North Texas and a master 's degree from Concordia University.
Chambers will assist with boys sports, swimming, tennis, ROTC and secondary physical education, while Peach will assist with girls sports, gymnastics, step teams, cheerleading and elementary physical education.
