Many residents are still waiting for limbs from the October 2 wind storm to be picked up from their curbs. While hundreds of loads of storm debris have been picked up so far, there is still quite a bit of work to be done.

"This was a big storm that impacted all areas of the City," said Arlington Public Works and Transportation Director Keith Melton. "Our crews are working as hard as they can to get everything picked up. But, due to the volume of the debris it takes time."

Both Republic Services and the City's Public Works Department have added additional trucks and equipment to help with cleanup efforts.

"With a storm of this size, it's going to take time for us to get everything cleared. We appreciate everyone's patience and willingness to work with us to get things back to normal," Melton said.

Most debris is not being picked up by the regular trash crews for a couple of reasons: 1) it keeps the regular garbage trucks from filling up too quickly, and 2) once tree limbs are mixed with the regular trash, we can't recycle them. Limbs collected separately are mulched and recycled.

Below is updated information regarding storm debris:

• Curbside Pickup: Although the original deadline was October 18, Republic Services and the City of Arlington will continue to provide curbside pickup of tree limbs and fence panels in residential neighborhoods. Any storm debris placed curbside after the initial collection of your street, must be trimmed into lengths no longer than 4' and bundled.
• Drop-off at Landfill: Residents may go to webapps.arlingtontx.gov/tmp/environment to download up to two free landfill coupons. Residents will need their Arlington water account number to download coupons.
• Tree limbs kept separate from other waste may be recycled. To reach the landfill, call 817-354-2305.
