The road construction boom happening in The American Dream City features an array of upgrades designed to improve mobility, safety and connectivity throughout Arlington.
One such upgrade is the $4.4 million Center Street Project, which features the closing of three intersections along Center Street between Arkansas and Nottinghill.
Beginning Monday, March 2, crews will close the following intersections for paving:
- Center Street/Durham Drive,
- Center Street/Sussex Drive
- Center Street/Cavendish Drive
Weather permitting, the intersections should re-open Monday, March 16.
This project, which is estimated for completion by the end of 2015, is part of $80 million worth of major road improvements the city plans to roll out over a two-year period. The funding comes from previous bond elections, combined with some federal grants and state transportation dollars.
