The newest "Culture Buzz" segment on MyArlingtonTV celebrates the 100th anniversary of Bankhead Highway, now known as Division Street in Arlington.
The latest episode features special guest O.K. Carter, a longtime Arlington columnist and former publisher of theCitizen-Journal.
The Bankhead Highway was one of the nation' s earliest transcontinental highways. Its path crossed approximately 850 miles of Texas going from Texarkana to El Paso.
The highway also helped Arlington become a tourist destination, with prominent entertainment destinations like the Arlington Downs racetrack and Top O' Hill Terrace casino both located off the Bankhead Highway.
You can read more about the rich history of Bankhead Highway by visiting the Texas Historical Commission' s website.
