With AT&T Stadium, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Six Flags, and Arlington Music Hall, Arlington has a long list of venues that have hosted a wealth of events. The city is adding to that list with a new event to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, which started as a way to commemorate the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War and has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage.
"We are excited to be adding a variety of celebrations throughout Arlington to expand the types of activities for our citizens. The event will celebrate the diversity and culture of our city," said Rental and Lake Services Coordinator Kristy Sheikh. "A variety of cultural music and food will be featured throughout the event."
The city's first ever Cinco de Mayo event will highlight a fairly new facility that has become recognized as the heart of music and performing arts in Arlington. "The event will be held at Founders Plaza in downtown Arlington, with the entertainment performances on the Levitt Pavilion Stage," said Rental and Lake Services Manager Michael Debrecht, who expects between 3,000 and 5,000 attendees at the event. "This festival is something that we anticipate to continue for many years into the future and we are looking for partners to become involved."
If you would like more information about how to become a partner for this event, please contact Rental & Lake Services Manager Michael Debrecht at 817-575-8283 or [email protected].
