The Arlington Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation and several other partners to host a "Hiring Our Heroes " job fair on May 12 for military veterans and their spouses.

More than 50 companies from across the region are expected to participate.

The job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Globe Life Park, 1000 Ballpark Way. Job seekers can register online.

A workshop for veterans and other military job seekers that focuses on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation and interviewing will start at 8:30 a.m. Pre-register for the workshop during the job seeker registration process.

Since the Hiring Our Heroes initiative began in March 2011, more than 1,500 companies have hired 21,600 veterans and spouses as a result of more than 680 hiring fairs.

This Masco Contractor Services and First Command- sponsored hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Labor Veterans " Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Texas Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, NBC News, Goodwill, the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR), and other local partners.
