TXU Energy has made $150,000 available to the City of Arlington for future energy-efficient upgrades. The electric company announced the rebate program and presented a ceremonial check to city officials Thursday at the Texas Municipal League annual conference in Austin.
TXU Energy has announced that the City of Arlington will have $150,000 available starting next year to help make energy-efficient upgrades as part of the electric provider's GreenBack Rebate Program.
The GreenBack program provides reimbursement funding for qualified energy efficiency investments made by large TXU Energy commercial customers. In addition to funding, TXU Energy offers advice and coordination to ensure that its customers, including the City of Arlington, get the best results from their investments.
Possible improvements eligible for rebates through the program include installing motion-detection lighting, programmable thermostats, LED exit signs or upgrading HVAC systems.
In June, the Arlington City Council has approved a nine-year retail electricity supply contract with TXU Energy that will save the City an estimated $2.5 million a year.
