The Kaleidoscope of Homes at Viridian officially kicked off its three week event Friday morning with a ribbon cutting and VIP tour.
On hand for the opening event were a host of City leaders including Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and officials from Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, Mission Arlington and the Greater Fort Worth Building Association.
The Kaleidoscope of Homes at Viridian was supposed to have opened October 3, but the severe storms that hit Arlington the night before did significant damage to the tour's fencing and event tent. As a result, officials called off the opening weekend.
Still, the tour is expected to draw tens of thousands for the tree weeks its open. For the remainder of October, the show will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The insightful event will display products and latest home building trends from some of the most advanced home manufacturers out there. At least six homes ranging from about $300,000 to $1 million will be available for touring with all sorts of products like robot lawn mowers and robot floor cleaners, event organizer, David Yates, said.
"This will give people the opportunity to tour the homes and talk to professionals about the homes," he said.
Latest styles in interior home design, latest appliances and colors, and more will be on display.
Tented, live seminars will take place in the open- air with professionals covering latest styles in remodeling, interior design, and more, Yates said.
"Our slogan is 'ideas by the roomful,'" he said.
There will be food and refreshments for purchase at the food court and a beer and wine garden as well.
The City of Arlington is one of the platinum sponsors for the event, which hasn't taken place in Tarrant County for three years, Yates said. Past Kaleidoscope of Homes events have attracted as many as 20,000 people.
All parking will be free at Hurricane Harbor and the Arlington Trolley will provide transportation to Viridian's Kaleidoscope of Homes, he said.
Individual and group tickets can be purchased at the Kaleidoscope of Homes at Viridian website.
