Details:

In its 24thyear, this wildly popular event has reached a record of 197 youth and adult boats with courageous crews ready to float or (sink!) their corrugated cardboard creations in Hurricane Harbor's Wave Pool.

Other activities include Build-on-Site boats; Volleyball and Tug-of-War tournaments; Hook's Lagoon; unlimited rides on the popular Tornado; a children's area featuring Bubble Play, Hula Hoop Contests, and a Mini-Boat Regatta; Whale Sail; and concessions.

The Mini-Boat Regatta provides an opportunity for children ages 4-12 to race small pinewood sailboats along rain gutters by blowing on the sail of their boat. There will be 4 age categories and prizes for the winners. Cost to participate is $5. Mini sailboat kits can be purchased at Acorns Gift Shop at River Legacy Living Science Center or at area Scout shops. A few will be available the day of the event for a $5 refundable deposit.

After seeing the action, guests may want to try their own hand at building a cardboard boat. Build-on-Site is their opportunity to do just that. Contenders will be given two hours and all the supplies needed to build a 1- or 2-person boat. Build-on-Site boats will race in the Wave Pool after the adult semi-final races. A trophy will be awarded to the fastest finish (that stays intact!) Cost to participate in Build-on-Site is $50.

Adult Division Boats will have another chance to "Brave the Waves" this year at the end of the races allowing their boat and crew 5 minutes to brave the waves of Hurricane Harbor's Wave Pool, a challenge usually reserved for just finalists and winners. A Brave the Waves pass can be purchased for $20 at the River Legacy Booth at Regatta. Limited to the first 15 to sign up.

Buy miniature, numbered rubber whales and cheer them on to victory as they race down the Lazy River for chances to win great prizes such as an iPad Mini, autographed Tom Grieve Baseball, Texas Rangers tickets, Texas Motor Speedway tickets, Hurricane Harbor tickets and more. Adopt one whale for $5 or a pod of 5 whales for $20. The more whales you sail, the better your chances of winning. Whales can be purchased in advance by calling 817.860.6752. Whale Sail adoption forms can also be downloaded at www.riverlegacy.org. Guests do not have to be present to win.

Of course this event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Moritz Dealerships, Star-Telegram, Spring Creek Barbeque, i93 & The Ticket, Bates Container, Randol Mill Pharmacy, Westlake ACE Hardware and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.
