The inaugural Arlington Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness Ball, held this year at UT Arlington's College Park Center on Saturday, April 12, raised $5,300 to help families in need.
"We appreciate the community's support, which will allow us to continue fulfilling the organization's purpose: to perform random acts of good in the Arlington area,"" said Battalion Chief Joe Morris, president of Random Acts of Kindness.
All projects are identified by members of the organization. Members are currently working on a fence rebuild for a widow that is struggling financially. The first responders are also working to help a community organization with cleanup efforts after a family suffered a fatality during a fire.
In the past, the organization has donated money to an Arlington teenager in need of a surgical procedure not covered by insurance.
