Arlington residents and businesses continue to cleanup after Thursday's powerful storm that swept through the City.
As of Saturday morning, 20,000 people in Arlington are still without power. That's down from 36,650 Thursday night. Oncor crews continue to work to restore power as quickly as possible.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday there are four intersections without power. They are SB Watson and Park Row, 109th and Division, Pioneer Parkway and Sherry, and Border and Mary. Residents should treat those intersections as a four way stop when approaching. Arlington Police continue to man some of those intersections to provide traffic control.
For those with major damage to their home, the Red Cross has opened an assistance center at University Baptist Church, 1013 West Park Row in Arlington.
All trails at River Legacy Park are closed due to heavy damage from the storm.
Many residents are using the weekend to cleanup downed trees, fallen limbs and toppled fences. Arlington 911 Dispatch is receiving reports that people are burning their debris. This is against the law and poses safety risks for residents and City crews.
Republic Services is providing several appropriate ways to assist in the removal of debris. They have instituted measures that will make this easier for residents, including:
- Crews will pick up unbundled tree limbs and fence panels curbside through October 18. This pick-up will happen on your normal trash collection day, with crews picking up as much as is possible per pick-up day. Tree limbs and fence panels must be manageable (nothing longer than 4 feet). After October 18, regular curbside collection rules will apply.
- Arlington residents can dump storm debris (tree limbs and fence panels only) free of charge at the Arlington Landfill through Saturday, October 11. During this time, no coupon is required. Proof of residency is required (a current driver's license or water bill). After October 11, residents will need to use their free landfill coupons or pay the regular residential landfill rate. Here's a link to the landfill coupons. To reach the landfill, call 817-354-2305.
- Republic Services offers a chipper service. If you're interested in checking rates and information, call Republic Services at 817-317-2000.

If your fence has been damaged due to the storm, exposing your pool, please call the Arlington Action Center at 817-459-6777 for temporary fencing.
The City's Emergency Operation Center remains activated in response to the storm damage.
