The City of Arlington is in the process of developing a citywide Comprehensive Housing Strategy, and is anticipating residents' participation in a survey regarding existing housing conditions and future housing needs and opportunities within the City.

"The Community Development and Planning Department plans to use the survey results to guide potential policy recommendations for housing development and redevelopment for the next five years and beyond," Planning Manager, Elaine Dennehy, said. "The results will also help us understand the state of affairs for single family, multi-family, and off-campus student housing."

The Housing Strategy will aim to inform the public, policy makers and stakeholders about the City's current housing conditions and market trends. It will also develop a practical, viable and implementable set of data and information that is specific to the needs, concerns and future of housing in the City. The Strategy will provide the foundation and insight the City needs to develop effective, informed and focused housing policies, plans and programs that will create and maintain a spectrum of housing choices and opportunities for residents.

Residents should complete the survey by May 15 for inclusion in the study. Participation is voluntary and confidential. In conjunction with the City, survey results will be tallied and quantified by the project consultant: Ernest Swiger Consulting, Inc.

Hard copies of the survey will be available in all public branch libraries and at City Hall in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Surveys can be left at the branch library or delivered to the Community Development and Planning Department at 101 W. Abram Street, 2nd floor.

The public is also invited to attend one of two public meetings to give input on housing issues within the city:
