Lake Arlington to Host 2014 Cabela’s Bass Tournament

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department and Lake Arlington are excited to announce the date for the Second Annual Lake Arlington Cabela's Bass Tournament. The tournament, scheduled to take place on April 12, 2014, will kick-off at 7 a.m. with a weigh-out to take place at 4 p.m.

"We are excited to offer this event to the Arlington fishing community for the second year in a row," Rental and Lake Services Coordinator and Tournament Director Kristy Sheikh said.

GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
1. Pre-registration is available for $50.00 per team (1 or 2 people), one boat per team. Registration is open on tournament day from 5:30 am thru 6:45 am for $60.00. Entry fee is non-refundable.
2. A brief, pre-tournament meeting will be held in the Richard Simpson lake room promptly at 6:45 am. This meeting is mandatory for all contestants.
3. The tournament shot gun start time for all is 7:00 am with angler check-in starting at 5:30 am at the Lake Office in Richard Simpson Park. Tournament will end at 4:00 pm.
4. Anglers must be in line to weigh in fish before 4:15 pm. ALL anglers are REQUIRED to check-out with the tournament director prior to leaving the lake, regardless of number of fish caught or if leaving prior to tournament weigh in time.
5. Tournament is open to all fisher person, however, anglers 17 or under MUST have a parent/guardian authorization on registration form.
6. Tournament director will weigh up to 5 bass (ONLY Largemouth bass, 14 inch minimum) per team. Total combined weight of 5 fish will be recorded and be used for tournament placement.
7. Contestants may fish anywhere on tournament waters available to the public and accessible by boat, except areas posted or otherwise designated as "off-limits," "no boats," "keep out," "restricted," "no trespassing" or "no fishing" (or similar language or markings intended to restrict public access) by local, state or federal officials, or within 50 yards of a contestant's boat that was first anchored.

SPORTMANSHIP REGULATIONS:
8. All anglers must fish from a boat and in waters accessible by boat only (you are not permitted to leave the boat to reach another fishing hole).
9. Only artificial lures may be used for fishing.
10. Only 1 rod at a time per fisherman may be used.
11. "Hole Sitting" is not allowed (i.e. anglers may not stake out or have someone stake out a particular spot for fishing).

LICENSING REGULATIONS:
12. All anglers must have a valid Lake Arlington boat permit (1-day permits available for purchase on tournament day).
13. All anglers must present a valid Texas state fishing license and agree to abide by all rules and safety statements listed on registration document and/or briefed at start of tournament.
14. Texas state fishing laws/rules dictate minimum/maximum and slot limits of all fish. Largemouth bass must be 14 inches to be weighed. Dead fish weighed in will result in a 1/2 lb (8 ounce) penalty.
15. Every effort must be taken to keep fish alive through tournament and weigh in. All live fish will be released back in the lake immediately after weigh-in.

SAFETY REGULATIONS:
16. All anglers will wear a fastened U.S. Coast Guard approved floatation device, with attached engine kill switch, while combustion engine is in operation during tournament hours in the waters of Lake Arlington.
17. Kayak anglers are allowed and must wear a fastened US Coast Guard approved floatation device at all times while in the waters of Lake Arlington.
18. Anglers who are minors are required to wear a US Coast Guard approved flotation device the entire time they are on the water.
19. No alcohol or drugs allowed during tournament.
20. Each vessel is subject to random safety checks at any time during the tournament to ensure all required safety devices, lights, horns, etc. are in working order. Checks may be performed by any of the following: Tournament director, City of Arlington Parks & Recreation staff, City of Arlington Police or Texas Game Wardens.
21. At the discretion of the tournament director, Tournament days may be shortened, postponed or canceled due to unsafe weather/water conditions.

TOURNAMENT PRIZES:
22. Tournament prizes will be given to the top five (5) total combined weigh out weights and will be for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place and 5th places ONLY. One additional prize for biggest Bass will be awarded. There are no separate divisions based on age or ability.
23. Ties will be decided by the number of fish weighed in and the biggest bass weighed by each team involved in the tie.
