The largest, eco-friendly event of the year is upon us. Ecofest Arlington kicks off at Levitt Pavilion/Founders Plaza in Downtown Arlington on Sept. 20, 2014, from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
The festival features a wide variety of family-friendly activities ranging from: live entertainment, eco-classes, kids activities, a free tree giveaway and more.
In addition, attendees will also be able to recycle their used electronic devices at the festival. DFW Reclaimers Computer Recycling (DFWRCR) will be at the event, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., taking electronic items to be recycled. The Trailer will be on the corner of Pecan and South Street next to the First Baptist Church. Attendees must drive up to the trailer to drop off their items.
"Our basic rule of thumb for items we recycle is that if it ever plugged in, or powered on we can recycle it," a DFWRCR representative said. "We accept any forms of electronics from computers to appliances at no charge. The only item we charge a recycling fee for are televisions. That cost is $1 per inch so a 27" TV will be $27."
Attendees May Recycle The Following Basic Items:
- Computers and Laptops
- LCD and CRT Monitors
- Printers and Copiers
- Servers
- Cell Phones
- Telecom Equipment
- Audio/Visual Equipment
- Power Supplies & UPS Batteries
- Medical Electronic Equipment
- Wiring/Cabling
- Video Game Consoles
- Household Appliances
- Household Electronics
In keeping with the message of Ecofest Arlington, event planners are aiming for a zero-waste event. There will be recycling stations set up and vendors are required to use only materials that fit the recycling and composting guidelines.
