Live music will return to the Levitt Pavilion Arlington this Labor Day Weekend for the 2017 fall concert series in Downtown! This weekend's lineup includes Brave Combo on Friday, Bob Schneider on Saturday and The Hillbenders present Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry on Sunday. All concerts begin at 8 p.m. Later in the fall, classic rock band Kansas will headline Levitt Pavilion's annual benefit concert on Sept. 23. Best known for their two gold single hits, "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," Kansas is celebrating more than 40 years as one of America's most iconic rock bands. This annual fundraising event unites restaurants, specialty beverages and gourmet food stores in the heart of Downtown Arlington. This year's outdoor event is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at 305 W. Main Street in Arlington's Cultural Arts District. Taste of Arlington is a rain or shine event. Proceeds will benefit Theatre Arlington. Taste of Arlington will feature live music from bands such as The Gibbonses, raffles, performances from Dance Theatre of Arlington, street performers and the chance to enjoy a variety of entrées, appetizers, desserts, beverages and more. The 2017 AdvoCare Classic continues a tradition at AT&T Stadium and will once again kick off the college football season with a marquee matchup featuring two of college football's preeminent programs on Saturday, September 2. After clinching a spot in the WNBA Playoffs, the Wings return home this Sunday, September 3 for the final regular season home game of 2017 at The University of Texas at Arlington's College Park Center in Downtown. The water park in Arlington's Entertainment District will be open Saturday through Monday, September 2-4, 2017 for Labor Day Weekend. Join your Texas Rangers this Sunday, September 3 for a scenic 5K through Arlington's entertainment district and finish on the field at Globe Life Park, or take part in the family-friendly 1K! Registration and a complete schedule of the event can be found on the Texas Rangers website. Race packets will be available for early pick up from Monday, August 28 to Saturday, September 2 at the Center Field Offices lobby at Globe Life Park Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Please bring a photo ID with you.
The Rangers Labor Day Weekend Race presented by Medical Center Arlington is USATF certified and chip timed. Each race participant will receive:
- Commemorative race t-shirt
- Entry to post race celebration, which includes complimentary food and beverage
- Event participation ribbon
- One (1) ticket for the Angels vs. Rangers 2:05 p.m. game after the race.
- Awards for top performers in each male and female age category

The Texas Rangers are at Globe Life Park in Arlington for a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday, September 1 through Sunday, September 3, 2017. There will be "Star Wars Fireworks" after the game on Friday (7:05 p.m. start time) and 10% of all ticket sales for this weekend's series against the Angels will be donated to Hurricane Harvey relief effort all weekend. On Saturday, the first 15,000 fans will receive a Globe Life Insurance Rangers Star Wars Bobblehead. That game gets underway at 6:15 p.m. Sunday is $1 Blue Bell Ice Cream Sunday for fans ages 13 & under. First pitch on Sunday is at 2:05 p.m.
UTA Planetarium continues to offer shows to residents and visitors this summer. The Planetarium's lineup of shows is featured in an episode of "Culture Buzz" on MyArlingtonTV. This includes Phantom of the Universe, a planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
