Arlington Fire Department Sends Additional Crews for Hurricane Harvey Relief

On Wednesday, the City of Arlington deployed additional first responders to assist southeast Texas communities affected by Hurricane Harvey.

At the State Operations Center's request, the City of Arlington joined other regional fire departments in sending fire engines and crews to provide help to hard-hit areas in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area, which has experienced significant flooding. A dozen fire engines and additional support vehicles from North Texas local fire departments gathered at the centrally located AT&T Stadium in Arlington's Entertainment District around 7 p.m. Wednesday before heading south to College Station for assignments.

The convoy includes three Arlington Fire Department fire engines and a command and support vehicle, carrying 11 fire fighters total. Though Arlington has deployed multiple fire department personnel to assist communities across the Texas Gulf Coast Region, Arlington fire officials say no fire station here will be without a fire engine to response to calls for service.
