On Saturday, August 16, hundreds of Arlington families who are getting ready for a new school year will receive a wealth of free services compliments of the Arlington Branch of the NAACP and a host of community sponsors and supporters.
For a second consecutive year, the Arlington branch of the NAACP has teamed up with District 3 Arlington City Councilmember Robert Rivera to host an event that helps Arlington area families get ready for a new school year. This partnership includes a host of community partners including Walmart, Sam's Club, South Texas Dental, the Retired NFL Players' Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, the City of Arlington and the Arlington Independent School District.
What can families expect to find at this Resource Fair? Everything to help ensure that parents and children are prepared for a brand new school year of learning, said Event Coordinator Billy Wilson of the Arlington NAACP.
The fair includes motivational workshops for parents, vendors, free health screenings, immunizations, free hair cuts for boys, hair styles for girls, back packs and school supplies. There will be bounce houses, snow cones, entertainment, games and prizes. The doors will open at 9 a.m. at Sam Houston High School located at 2000 Sam Houston Drive in Arlington.
In a partnership with this Back to School Stay in School Rally, students attending Saturday's event will also receive vouchers for free haircuts and styles.
