J. Gilligan's Celebrates St. Patrick's Day

Get ready for St. Patrick's Day by the annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration and Block Party sponsored by J. Gilligan's on Saturday at 11 a.m. There will be plenty of food, fun, drinks and music on three stages. Expect a $6 cover after 6 p.m.

For Kicks and Giggles

The Improv in Arlington opens its doors this Sunday for the PG crowd, bringing a variety of comedy, stand-up routines and magic all in one show. See two magicians put all their cards on the table (except for the ones up their sleeves) during the 2 p.m. family show. Doors open at 1 p.m. Tickets are $12. This show is suggested for ages four and older.

Groovy Traveling Drum Jam at the Arlington Farmer's Market

Spend some with the Groovy Goods Drum Circle during an appearance at the Downtown Arlington Farmers Market on Saturday from 6-10 p.m. If you are a drummer, belly dancer, hula hooper, flow artists or juggler, stop on by. Birding Basics

Birding 101 is a four-week series of classes designed for beginning birders and those who want to learn more about the resources available to improve their birding skills. This adult workshop at River Legacy Living Science Center, which begins Saturday, March 15, is being led by North Central Texas Master Birders. Bring your binoculars and field guide if you have them. A limited supply of binoculars will be available during the class. Birding Basics will teach you the basic tools needed to begin birding and how to identify birds including general overall shape, habitat, behavior and markings. Register for just one class or all 4. AISD Youth Art Month at AMA

This is the final weekend to see a variety of paintings, sculptures, drawings and other student artwork currently on display at the Arlington Museum of Art, 201 West Main Street. Students representing Martin High School and Bowie High School submitted their artistic creations for the annual AISD Youth Art Month. The current display runs through Sunday, March 16.
