The City of Arlington is preparing to host the 79th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium on New Year's Day.

This year's matchup features one Texas team, the No. 5 ranked Baylor Bears (11-1) from the Big 12.

The Bears will face off against No. 8 Michigan State Spartans (10-2) from the Big Ten, one of a record-tying 10 Big Ten teams that are playing in a bowl game this season.

Art Briles with Baylor becomes just the third head coach to have played in the Cotton Bowl Classic as a player and lead his team to the same bowl as head coach.

Kickoff for the Cotton Bowl starts at 11:45 a.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

The Cotton Bowl is the first of two major sporting events taking place in January at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship game will also be played at AT&T Stadium on January 12.
