For the first time in his nearly two decades as head track and field coach, UT Arlington's John Sauerhage will take his Mavericks to an indoor meet during the fall semester, as the men's and women's teams head to the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational on Saturday.

"This is something we've never done, and we're looking forward to seeing how much we like it," Sauerhage said. "It will give us an opportunity to see where we are with some of our new athletes and find out what we need to do to get better across the board."

The four-team field for the event includes: UT Arlington, Texas A&M, Houston and Sam Houston State.

UTA will bring approximately 50 student-athletes to the Reveille Invitational, split evenly between men and women. The bulk of the Maverick athletes will be sprinters and jumpers, with fewer distance runners competing than at a typical meet.

The meet will begin at 3 p.m. at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium. Live results will be available through FlashResults.com and live video can be found on www.12thman.com.

"We're hoping for a successful meet," Sauerhage said. "But we also should find out who is ahead of schedule and who may be behind schedule. Whether the results are positive or negative, it should give everyone more incentive to train hard over the break."

The Mavericks will return to College Station on Jan. 17 to kick off the spring indoor slate at the Texas A&M Invitational.
