Texas Christkindl Market
The Texas Christkindl Market is underway in Arlington for its fourth year and is open for people to visit until December 21. Road to Six Flags on the north side of Globe Life Park in Arlington has been transformed into a European holiday village, featuring a variety of authentic German holiday products, food, music, live entertainment and family activities. The Market also has a custom-crafted Santa Haus, Marionette Theatre, pony rides and much more. Dec. 13-14 is Rothenburg weekend at Texas Christkindl Market and The Lord Mayor of Rothenburg, Germany will be visiting on Saturday. Parking and admission are both free.
Breakfast with Santa
Looking for something festive to do with your kids this weekend? The Breakfast with Santa event by Arlington Parks and Recreation will include a pancake breakfast, holiday crafts, entertainment and a photo with Santa. The annual event is on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 8-11 a.m. at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center. Space is limited, so mark your calendars today and make this a holiday tradition. Turning A Page Celebration
Past and present friends and patrons of the George W. Hawkes Central Library are invited to Turning a Page: A New Chapter of Arlington's Central Library on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 2-6 p.m. This is an opportunity for the public to celebrate the history, experience the present, and imagine the future of the Central Library. People who attend this event will have the chance to create and take home a personal keepsake of the Central Library at a flipbook creation booth. Tours of the library's mysterious back rooms, a library scavenger hunt, live music, and refreshments are all part of the afternoon's activities. This event is free to attend. Fielder House 100th Birthday
Come out and celebrate a significant part of Arlington's history this weekend at the Historic Fielder House's 100th Birthday celebration! The Fielder House, located at the corner of Fielder and Abram streets, was the first brick home built in the American Dream City. The home was built as a private residence by Park Fielder, a prominent banker and Arlington commissioner who served on the original board of UT Arlington, along with his wife Mattie Fielder. The birthday celebration includes tours, refreshments and live entertainment. The event is open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. Salvation Army Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge
Mayor Robert Cluck is gearing up for this year's Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge, an event that takes place at the Walmart on Randol Mill Rd. across from AT&T Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 13th. The Mayoral Red Kettle Challenge started in 2009 with the mayors from Arlington, Mansfield, Dalworthington Gardens, Pantego, and Kennedale facing off to see who could raise the most money for The Salvation Army. Mayor Cluck and city council members will volunteer as bell ringers once again this year and will be there to collect donations from the community. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Come out and help Mayor Cluck and the City of Arlington raise money for those in need and win this year's challenge!
Rangers Breakfast Searching for Santa
A new holiday tradition in Arlington gets started this weekend at Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers. After an authentic Texas breakfast, featuring Texas-shaped waffles and Super Chix fried chicken, kids will begin their search for Santa. Along the way, families will see Santa's workshop, his press room for monitoring the naughty and nice, Santa's own locker in the player's clubhouse, the dugout stable where the reindeer sleep and Santa's private elevator. There will also be face painting and balloon artistry, a fun room for the kids and a holiday movie on the big screen in the Hall of Fame Theatre. The event is both Saturday, Dec. 13 and next Saturday, Dec. 20. Tickets are free for ages 0-3, $40 for ages 4-12 and $55 for ages 13 and up (including adults).
