The City of Arlington is accepting applications for interested residents who would like to serve on a Board or Commission.
Members of boards and commissions assist the Mayor and City Council, and make recommendations on general policy matters impacting the city. Most boards and commissions function in advisory capacities and some have final decision-making authority. Some may require specialized training and licenses.
The following 16 boards/commissions have vacancies:
- Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors
- Building Code Board of Appeals
- Citizens Environmental Committee
- Electrical Code Board of Appeals
- Emergency Physician's Advisory Board
- Ethics Review Commission
- Housing Authority
- Landmark Preservation Commission
- Library Board (Youth Member - Must be a high school senior in fall 2011)
- License and Amortization Appeal Board
- Mechanical and Plumbing Code Board of Appeals
- Park and Recreation Board (Youth Member-Must be a high school senior in fall 2011)
- Planning and Zoning Commission
- Special Transportation Advisory Board
- Teen Court Advisory Board (Youth Member-Must be a high school junior in fall 2011)
- Zoning Board of Adjustment
Application deadline is Friday, May 4
