Theatre Arlington is a nearly 40-year-old nonprofit performing arts organization located in the heart of Arlington.
Some call it "community theater," but don't be fooled by that label. Despite being a nonprofit theater, the organization puts on high-quality plays and musicals, making it well respected in the DFW acting community.
"We really are a hidden gem. I've never had anyone leave our theater saying "Oh, I'm never coming back,'" Todd Hart, Theatre Arlington's executive producer, said. "I think they're genuinely surprised and impressed with the quality of productions we put on."
Texas Power Vice President David Chase echoed a similar sentiment. "They have that community theater feel, but they put on a much better production than what you would think."
The theater is one of the 20 largest community theaters in the nation, according to Hart, and puts on nine shows a year.
In addition to performances, the organization has year-round theater school and provides outreach to children in a variety of ways including summer camps for the homeless and those in transitional housing.
The arts group has also partnered with Arlington Independent School District to provide programming for at-risk students at two elementary schools.
