Friday night's showdown between the ninth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies and the eleventh-ranked Oklahoma Sooners could produce some fireworks, and a former Arlington High School star could play a major role in the outcome.

Family and friends are excited about Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, winner of the 2012 Outland Trophy, returning home to play in the 77th Cotton Bowl Classic on Friday, January 4 at Cowboys Stadium.

"We're so happy Luke, (his twin brother) Matt and the Aggies are playing so close to home,' said Dave & Reecanne Joeckel, parents of the dynamic duo. "After traveling throughout the SEC this year, the Cotton Bowl is great way to cap off a terrific season.' Matt is one of the talented quarterbacks on the Aggies roster.

The 6-6, 310-pound junior from Arlington, TX (Arlington High School) has served as a protector and blocker for Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. NFL scouts say Joeckel could be a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft if he decides to leave school early. Joeckel beat out Alabama center Barrett Jones and North Carolina guard Johnathan Cooper for the third-oldest award in major college football.

"As a family of linemen, the Outland Trophy is the ultimate honor. We are very proud that Luke won such a prestigious award,' Dave Joeckel said.
