Fifth graders in Arlington are being motivated to stay active this summer and keep moving! Mayor Robert Cluck and AISD Superintendent Jerry McCullough will host this year's"Let's Move with the Mayor" kick-off event along with Texas Rangers Captain to inspire students to fight obesity by leading active and healthier lives.
Let's Move with the Mayor Kick-off Event

At the kickoff, each student will be given a pedometer and tracking form and challenged to take 10,000 steps a day throughout the summer months. Prizes will be awarded this fall and all participants will receive T-shirts. The top three movers will each receive two tickets to Six Flags. Wednesday's kickoff will be broadcast live by AISD from Pearcy Elementary and simulcast to fifth-grade students throughout the district.
About Let's Move
Now in its third year, this program is part of a national Let's Move campaign inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama's"Let's Move" campaign which has mayors throughout the U.S. working with their communities to adopt a holistic approach to fighting childhood obesity."Move with the Mayor" is sponsored locally by the City of Arlington, Arlington ISD, Six Flags Over Texas, JPS Health Network, Nestlé and Allan Saxe.
