Jay Burress, President & CEO of Experience Arlington (formerly the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau) announced his resignation on Friday. Burress is leaving to accept the President & CEO position with the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau.
"Jay has done a terrific job during his tenure here in Arlington and will be greatly missed,' said Jim Brothers, Chairman of the Board. "He assembled a solid team and we are appreciative of the great work he's accomplished with them over the past nearly 5 years.'
Burress will officially take office as President & CEO of the Anaheim/Orange County CVB (AOCVCB) on February 11, 2013, replacing Charles Ahlers, who announced his retirement in February after 20 years with the organization.
"I am so proud of this team and the accomplishments for tourism and development in Arlington that we have made together. The Experience Arlington staff loves the tourism and travel industry and are dedicated to enhancing Arlington.' said Burress. "Anaheim is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to continue working with a destination that combines a world-class tourism and meetings product.'
Mr. Burress has served as President & CEO of Experience Arlington since 2008. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau where he held executive-level positions in both convention sales and tourism sales. His experience also includes international marketing, management of six international representation offices and management of five regional sales offices.
As president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, he will oversee the day-to-day management of all convention, tourism and destination marketing programs. Burress will play a key role in visitor industry business development and future expansion plans for the Anaheim Convention Center.
Experience Arlington will be conducting a nationwide search for his replacement.
