The Arlington City Council turned down a request by Chesapeake Energy for a zoning change for a Rush Creek drill site in Southwest Arlington. The 7-1 vote came at the end of a two-and-a-half hour public hearing. Mel LeBlanc was the sole Councilmember to vote in favor of the zoning change.
Nearly 400 citizens crowded City Hall for public hearings on the Rush Creek and the Truman drill sites in North Central Arlington.
Overflow seats were set up in the lobby of City Hall after Council Chambers reached capacity. The council unanimously voted to approve a similar zoning request change for the Truman site.
