The City of Arlington has been selected to receive the 2016 Audrey Nelson Award for its work with the Development Corporation of Tarrant County (DCTC) to develop housing for first-time homebuyers in the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA).
The construction of new, affordable single-family housing is part of the initiative to transform the Central Arlington NRSA. New, energy-efficient homes have improved quality and cost of living within the Central Arlington community. The housing units are a collaborative effort between the City of Arlington HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Development Corporation of Tarrant County (DCTC), Wells Fargo, History Maker Homes, Texas Bank Financial, Guild Mortgage Company, Gateway Mortgage Group and J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. DCTC began this effort in 2011.
Development Corporation of Tarrant County, a certified Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), is developing 9 new owner-occupied housing units with a variety of innovative features, including accessibility for persons with disabilities and sustainability with energy efficient features.
The most recent energy efficient, affordable homes constructed by DCTC, 906 Magnolia and 1006 Wright, are currently on the market, and are fully accessible for veterans or other individuals with disabilities. For more information, visit www.tchp.net.
