Get Fall Gardening Advice at Arlington Water Utilities, Arlington Public Library Classes

Arlington Water Utilities and the Arlington Public Library are hosting a series of classes this fall to help residents learn more about how to boost the water efficiency of their outdoor spaces. The classes, which start Sept. 27, are co-sponsored by the Tarrant Regional Water District, the City's wholesale water provider. Other program partners include the Tarrant County Master Gardener Association and Texas A&M AgriLife's Water University.

• Landscape for Rainwater Capture - 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Southwest Branch Library, 3311 SW Green Oaks Blvd.
• Trees: The Best For Our Area & Your Use - 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Southeast Branch Library, 900 SE Green Oaks Blvd.
• Pots in Small Spots: Container Gardening - 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S Center St.
• Herb Your Enthusiasm: Herb Gardening - 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct.18, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S Center St.
• Drip Irrigation: Water Efficient Landscape - 6:30-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Lake Arlington Branch Library, 4000 W Green Oaks Blvd.

Arlington Water is also hosting a "Bagels and Barrels" rain barrel making class 9:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S Center St. Learn the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and environmental effects of stormwater from Texas A&M AgriLife's Water University. Participants will have the opportunity to make their own 55-gallon rain barrel. Bagels and coffee will be provided.
