The Arlington Police Department worked diligently overnight fielding tips, tracking investigative leads, and searching for the suspect wanted for the death of Leona Faye Swafford, 83, of Arlington.

In neighborhoods, officers continue to distribute flyers, containing a composite drawing of what the suspect might look like. It is very important for the public to realize that the composite drawing is simply a tool. Citizens are being asked to consider not only the suspect's description but also be aware of other clues such as extreme behavioral changes.

The public is being asked to be on the lookout for someone who may exhibit strange behaviors such as refusing to come outside of a residence or only exiting for short periods of time. The suspect may unexpectedly leave town. They may also appear nervous and change their normal routine. The community should not consider the composite as the sole factor in identifying the suspect, as it's not an exact picture of what the suspect might look like. It is a tool to help in the investigation.

"This was a grandmother, a mother, a defenseless woman," Sgt. Christopher Cook said. "There was no reason to kill her… such a senseless act of violence against her and against our community. Somebody knows something. They need to come forward and give this suspect up."

The public is asked to call the Tip Line at 817-459-5638 or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS to report information. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash award. Oak Farms Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and grand jury indictment of the person responsible for the death of Leona Swafford.

Arlington police encourage residents to check any personal surveillance video footage at their homes, especially those near the three locations where the homicide suspect is believed to have been yesterday. Those locations include -the 400 block of Sussex Drive, the 1900 block of Kimberly Drive, and the 2000 block of Elm Point. Anyone with information or video footage that might be beneficial to the case is encouraged to call the Arlington Police Department Tip Line at 817-459-5638.
