Children's author and illustrator Grace Lin will visit Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Thursday, March 8 for the Texas Rangers Storybook Series. Grace is an author and illustrator of over a dozen picture books, early readers, and middle grade novels that typically deal with the Asian American experience. Noting the importance of literature Grace comments, "Books erase bias, they make the uncommon every day, and the mundane exotic. A book makes all cultures universal."
Grace's 2010 Newbery Honor book, WHERE THE MOUNTAIN MEETS THE MOON was chosen for Al Roker's Today Show Kid's Book Club and was a NY Times Bestseller. LING & TING, Grace's first early reader, was honored with the Theodor Geisel Honor in 2011. In addition, Grace was an Astrid Lindgren Memorial finalist, which is a prestigious international prize awarded for children's literature.
The free event is open to the public and will begin at 5 p.m. in The Diamond Club at the Ballpark in Arlington. The Storybook Series is aimed at helping promote literacy for children by bringing in famous authors and illustrators. This event is recommended for third grade level and older.
Tickets are not required, but reservations are requested at texasrangers.com/foundation.
