Maverick Dance Company presents VIA DANCE, a collection of new, entertaining and progressive dance works by faculty, guest, and student choreographers. Artistic Director, Amanda Jackson, and Associate Artistic Director, Meredith Knight, are joined by Dallas-based guest choreographer, Danielle Georgiou, internationally recognized guest sound designer, John Osburn, and student choreographers, Bri Bowens, Randi Kosik, Jonathan Switzenberg, and Brittany Wachsmann. VIA DANCE includes a variety of dance styles including contemporary ballet, modern, musical theatre, and tap, and runs December 11-13, 2015.
Featured UTA student dancers in VIA DANCE are Bri Bowens, Kimber Carter, Iván Díaz, Kandace Davis, Niki Davis, Markicia Johnson, Randi Kosik, Kacie Le, Cheyenne Masters, Megan Medina, Tyler Moore, Alex Pope, Stephanie Ramirez, Tiffany Sellers, Shelby Solis, Gabrielle Steele, Elizabeth Stevens, Kelly Stewart, Jonathan Switzenberg, Ariana Vera, and Brittany Wachsmann.
VIA DANCE is directed by Amanda Jackson and Meredith Knight. Lighting design by faculty Jared Land and Laurie Land, and students, Kat Fahrenthold, Elly Hunt, Matt McGregor, and Jesse Scott. Scenic elements include suspended, exposed light bulbs; dancers entwined in thin ropes; magic tricks featuring money; whimsical twinkle lights; and a blustery snow machine all designed in collaboration with faculty, Michelle Harvey, Laurie Land, Jared Land, and student, Zakk Shortes. Technical direction is by DJ Badon.
Please join Maverick Dance Company for the winter concert Dec. 11-12 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m., 2015. Maverick Dance Company will perform at the Mainstage Theatre (Room 174, Fine Arts Bldg. North) located at 502 South Cooper Street on the UT Arlington campus. $7 for students w/ID, $10 general admission.
