As the team prepares for its inaugural season playing in the DFW Metroplex, the WNBA's Dallas Wings, announced this week that Head Coach Fred Williams and Assistant Coaches Ed Baldwin and Bridget Pettis have agreed to multi-year contract extensions and will be back on the bench in 2016 coaching the young and promising franchise.
The Dallas Wings, the first-ever WNBA team in the DFW Metroplex, will play their home games at College Park Center, a state-of-the-art 7,000-seat arena located at The University of Texas at Arlington. The 2016 regular season starts May 14.
Williams served as the Head coach of the Tulsa Shock, now the Dallas Wings, for the past two seasons and served six seasons coaching the Atlanta Dream. In Atlanta, he led the Dream to the 2013 WNBA Finals and was an integral member of the coaching staff that led the Dream to five WNBA Playoff appearances in six years.
Ed Baldwin, entering his third season alongside Coach Williams, came to the WNBA after stints as the Head Coach for the UNC Charlotte women's basketball team, and an assistant at Ohio State, one of the premier women's programs in the NCAA.
Additionally, former WNBA player Bridget Pettis, who has been a member of the coaching staff for the past two seasons, will remain assistant coach with the Dallas Wings.
