UT Arlington Professor Earns National Award for Contributions to Social Work Education

The Council on Social Work Education has chosen University of Texas at Arlington professor Beverly Black to receive its 2013 Distinguished Recent Contributions in Social Work Education Award. The award honors significant and broad contributions to social work education in scholarship, pedagogy and organizational leadership.

Black serves as director of the social work doctoral program at UT Arlington, where she holds the Jillian Michelle Smith Professorship in Family Violence Research. She is noted for her energy, commitment, and vision, as well as for her effective and collaborative approach to leadership.
