Are you looking for an award-winning place to volunteer? Those interested will find a rewarding experience at Arlington Animal Services (AAS) where there is an awesome team of animal loving volunteers from youth to senior adults.
These devoted individuals logged almost 13,000 hours of service during the city's 2016 fiscal year. Arlington Citizen-Journal's " Best of the Best' contest recognized the animal shelter in three categories, " Best Place to Volunteer' and runner-up for " Best Customer Service' and " Best Place to Work.'
Here is what some of the volunteers have to say about volunteering at Animal Services:
- " AAS is the best shelter to volunteer for because all of the employees care so deeply for the animals. It's not just a job to them- it's a caring relationship between all the shelter employees and this is shown in the way they treat the animals. They also treat the volunteers as part of the shelter family. They like us and are super appreciative of what we do.' - Dottie Johnson
- " Being an animal lover, I want to make sure that I do what I can to make sure that the animals that we have here at the Shelter find the best homes possible, and in the meantime I want to give them the best love and care I can. Because I can volunteer my time anywhere, but….there are not animals everywhere!' - Barbara Morris
- " My chance to help animals….that cannot help themselves.' - Sharan Lombardo
- " Volunteering here at the Shelter is very rewarding…the joy on the adopters faces and the wags of the tails as they leave the building…..just to know I made a difference.' - Lisa Allen
- " It's the purrrfect place to schmooze with a real cool cat!!!' - William Oglesby
" It has been amazing to watch the volunteer program grow into a partnership with our community and local educational programs,' said Chris Huff, Animal Services Manager for the City of Arlington.
A celebration of Animal Services Volunteers will take place at a Volunteer Appreciation event on Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Animal Services Center.
