Betsy Beaman, Community Outreach Coordinator for Helping Restore Ability, was the guest speaker at this month's Arlington Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities meeting, focusing on ways that residents with disabilities can find easier access to long-term care and navigation services.
Beaman shared valuable information about Helping Restore Ability (HRA), a nonprofit dedicated to helping those with disabilities and their family members.
HRA offers long-term care for residents with disabilities throughout the state. This care includes help with daily activities "not for you, but with you" allowing those in need of assistance to remain at home with their families. The group also provides navigation services to help families look at different options for insurance and resources that are available for them and their families.
Beaman says it can be frustrating for those seeking services or counsel when they have a disability, whether it is recently diagnosed or discovered at an early age.
For additional information about the Helping Restore Ability, residents can visit the organization's website at www.hratexas.org. Several other websites were also mentioned at this month's meeting that can also assist in navigating healthcare and services:
