Adventure to Santa, a storytelling experience centered around Shrek characters and designed by Dreamworks Animation, returns to The American Dream City this holiday season at The Parks at Arlington! Just past the red cottage doors, Shrek and Donkey greet children and begin the interactive experience. Elves guide families through the next four rooms, where they design their own sleigh, go on a ride complete with pulsing seats and fans, compete in a virtual snowball fight, and meet Santa Claus. This event will be open to the public until Christmas Eve. This is a popular attraction at the mall, so be sure to book your reservation in advance by clicking here!
It's Homecoming season in Arlington, and UTA students, faculty and alumni are ready to paint the city blue, orange, and white, with school pride. On Friday, the UTA women's basketball team is hitting the road, taking on the Lady Bears. Starting at 1:30, residents are invited to join the team at College Park Center for a lively pre-game tip-off. Then hop on a bus with fellow Mavericks to head for Waco. On Saturday, Homecoming Week culminates with a Parade & Pep Rally starting at 5:45 p.m. leading up to the men's basketball game against Fordham. Creative Aging Exhibit Opens Nov. 15, 2015 at Arlington Museum of Art
In several locations across the city this year, senior adults have been picking up their paintbrushes to tell the stories of their lives. More than 60 students have attended Creative Aging Painting Classes in a month-long series, learning to express themselves through the visual arts. On Sunday, November 15, 2015, their work will be on display in the Arlington Museum of Art's Rooftop Gallery, 201 W. Main Street. The exhibit and reception is from 2-4 p.m. and is open to the public. The project was sponsored by the Arlington Public Library and made possible by an Arts Engagement in American Communities grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Get Rid of Your Old Computers, Electronics: Nov. 14, 2015
On Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, residents are invited to celebrate Texas Recycles Day in Arlington by disposing of unwanted computers, televisions, or even cell phones. The annual Computer Roundup is from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at the southeast corner of Mitchell and Cooper streets on the UT-Arlington campus. And it's free. Arlington residents can bring old monitors, keyboards, printers, radios, VCRs, video cameras anything electronic, with the exception of large, household appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers. Ringside: Memories of World Class Championship Wrestling showcases more than 30 photos taken by Cirrus Bonneau, who spent Monday nights in 1982 and 1983 at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth documenting the interplay between the costumed stars and their captivated audiences.
