Arlington celebrates the most recent award winners of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), John Kubala and Charles Anderson.
Working alongside the City's Water Treatment and Utility Department for a combined total of over 50 years, Kubala and Anderson helped Arlington in its transition from servicing over 45,000 customers to now more than 300,000 throughout the years.
Kubala, who passed away last year, served as the water utility director and was most recently posthumously inducted into the AWWA's Water Industry Hall of Fame in June.
Accepting the award on his behalf, Kubala's wife, Carol said, "I'm not a very public person, but I wanted to do it for him."
The initiation would follow after Kubala received the prestigious Golden Water Drop Award in 2014 for his cumulative service of 50 years with the AWWA.
Working alongside Kubala for many years, fellow director at the water plant Charles Anderson was given a Lifetime Honorary Membership at the award ceremony in June for his "outstanding contributions to the field of public water supply."
This award is given each year based on those who possess knowledge and accomplishments in the field of water supply.
