Arlington has received national recognition for its commitment to environmental protection, including:

• Arlington has been designated a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
• Arlington has been certified as a Bee City USA affiliate by the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. 
• MLK Sports Center is the first Audubon-sanctioned sports center in the U.S.
• Tierra Verde is the first Audubon-sanctioned municipal golf course in the world.
• The Arlington Airport, two Fire Stations and the Downtown Library have all received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
• 2019 Outstanding Compost Program with STAR for UTA Compost Cleaning Station
