- Arlington has been designated a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
- Arlington has been certified as a Bee City USA affiliate by the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.
- MLK Sports Center is the first Audubon-sanctioned sports center in the U.S.
- Tierra Verde is the first Audubon-sanctioned municipal golf course in the world.
- The Arlington Airport, two Fire Stations and the Downtown Library have all received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
