The American Dream Story of Dr. Bree Nichols Founder of Opera Arlington

Arlington-based soprano, vocal educator, and arts professional Dr. Bree Nichols is living her American Dream in The American Dream City as the founder and General Director of Opera Arlington.
Opera Arlington is an organization formed in 2022 to educate, inspire, challenge, amaze, nurture and empower artists and audiences by presenting quality opera performances that foster a more interculturally-conscious and compassionate community in Arlington and the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.

“For me the American Dream is about having the freedom to pursue what you love, to pursue your passion, for me that is a career in Arts and Music,” says Bree Nichols. “That is why I’m creating this organization because I want to help other people to have the same opportunity to pursue what they love as well.”

Nichols is a young American soprano praised for her “rich vocal disposition” (KlasikaPlus) and compelling stage presence. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of North Texas and a Master of Music degree from University of Georgia. A Fulbright grantee to the Czech Republic in 2021–22, Bree is known for her interpretations of Czech vocal music in addition to a diverse operatic repertoire. Her career has taken her to the stages of the North Czech Philharmonic, Opera Pilsen, Symphony of the Mountains, Capitol City Opera, Opera Roanoke, Lewisville Lake Symphony, the Olomouc Baroque Festival, and more. In 2020, she was the winner of the Presser Award in support of her performance and study of Czech opera. Off the stage, Bree Nichols is a scholar and innovator in community opera initiatives.
