City to Begin California Lane Drainage Improvements Projects Phase I in May 2023

The Public Works Department’s Stormwater Division is pleased to announce the construction of the California Lane Drainage Improvements Project, Phase 1, starting in California Lane Park is scheduled to begin in May 2023.

This project phase, which is estimated to be completed in July 2025, includes the following improvements:

  • Increasing the capacity of the ponds in California Lane Park
  • Additional amenity improvements in California Lane Park including the extension of the park’s trail
  • Upsizing and extending the drainage systems for various streets within the project limits
  • Renewals of water and sanitary sewer utilities for various street within the project limits and in the park
  • Full width street repairs for streets affected by the construction of underground utilities

This project is part of the City’s efforts to mitigate neighborhood flooding and improve drainage infrastructure in Arlington.

Residents interested in learning more about this project are invited to participate in a public meeting on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the [re]brary room A & B at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library located at 100 South Center Street, Arlington, Texas 76010. There will be a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
