In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, as amended, the City of Arlington, Texas, will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.

Effective Communication

The City of Arlington will generally, upon request, provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in City of Arlington programs, services, and activities. Auxiliary aids may include qualified sign language interpreters, documents in alternative formats, including Braille, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to persons with speech, hearing, or vision impairments.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures

The City of Arlington will make all reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure that individuals with qualified disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all City of Arlington programs, services, or activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in City of Arlington offices, even where pets are generally prohibited.

Individuals requiring auxiliary aids or services for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a City of Arlington program, service, or activity, should contact the City of Arlington ADA Coordinator, 101 West Abram Street, Arlington, TX 76010, 817-459-6550, or via email as soon as possible but not later than 72 hours prior to the start of the scheduled program, service, or activity.

The ADA does not require the City of Arlington to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs, services, or activities, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
