The City of Arlington's Office of Communication has launched a new series on MyArlingtonTV highlighting the restaurants and stores that will be open for business during the two-year Abram Street Rebuild Project. The show is part of the City's ongoing efforts to work closely with the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation to support local businesses, communicate lane closures, construction milestones and other important information.
The first two episodes feature a couple of Downtown Arlington's longtime staples for residents and visitors, J.R. Bentley's Restaurant and Pub and J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill. Future episodes will include Truth Vinyl, Fuzzy's Taco Shop, Hooligan's Pub, Kool Keg, PinnStation, Potager's Other Stuff, Old School Pizza and Suds, Shipley's Do-Nuts and many more over the next several months.
Situated in a historic home, J.R. Bentley's has the feel of an authentic English pub and features several local and area bands throughout the year. The venue is located at 406 W Abram St. You can find a complete calendar of events at www.jrbentleys.com. Regular hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight.
J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill, located at 400 E Abram St, has been a local hot spot in Downtown since 1979. Owner Randy Ford has been providing a home for live music and local bands for decades. You can find out more about upcoming entertainment at the restaurant's website and be sure to check out Randy Ford's American Dream story. The restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. The draft house is open each day from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
The $26 million Abram St. Rebuild project will not only bring much-needed roadway and utilities improvements to Abram between Cooper and Collins streets. It will also add on-street parking, enhanced landscaping, public art and pedestrian amenities that aim to create a more vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for Downtown shoppers, diners and visitors. Regular lane closures and construction updates are published on the Abram Street Rebuild webpage.
