MAX Ridership Strong in First Week

It was a successful first week for the new Metro ArlingtonXpress, or MAX, commuter bus service. MAX provided 1,133 one-way trips during service August 19-23. The daily number of trips - when a person steps onto a bus for a ride - ranged from 157 to 261.

MAX, which connects downtown Arlington to the Trinity Railway Express CentrePort/DFW Station, serviced an array of commuters last week - from the traveler heading to DFW Airport for an international trip to families heading to cultural attractions in Dallas and Fort Worth.

"We are very excited about the citizens' and businesses' response to the MAX service," said Jim Parajon, Community Planning & Development Director. "The ridership for the first week has far surpassed the City's projected ridership expected for the first year of service, let alone the first week."

Buses will operate Monday-Friday from about 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. For a bus schedule, maps and other important information, visit RideTheMax.com.
