2025 Sheri Capehart Animal Essay Contest Open Feb. 3, 2025

It is time for students across The American Dream City to begin composing an original essay to submit in the annual Sheri Capehart Animal Essay Contest.
The contest, in its 24th year, begins Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, and is open to students residing in Arlington city limits in third, fourth, fifth or sixth grade who attend public, private or home school.
Essay entries may be submitted beginning Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 through 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. No hand-delivered entries will be accepted after 5 p.m. on the final day of the contest. One essay entry per student. Previous winners are ineligible.
Essay Topics:
Grade 3: How can we coexist with wildlife?
Grade 4: What is migration and why do some animals migrate?
Grade 5: How are animals affected by the environment?
Grade 6: Which animal species is endangered from loss of habitat and what can we do to help?
A first, second and third place winner will be selected from each of the four grade levels listed above. Each winner will receive a Kindle Fire HD and a $100 savings account compliments of EECU, Spring Creek Barbeque and the City of Arlington.
