Mayor Ross to Highlight Arlington’s Successes, What’s Ahead at State of the City Address Oct. 25, 2023

Arlington Mayor Jim Ross will highlight the City’s current successes and his vision for the future during his annual State of the City Address on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center.

Ross, who is serving his second term, will discuss a variety of topics, including education, economic development, tourism, Downtown growth, investments in public infrastructure and amenities designed to enrich our community, and other milestone moments recently celebrated in The American Dream City. Ross will also unveil a tribute to fallen Arlington Police Department motorcycle officer Darrin McMichael.

Additionally, Ross will announce the 2nd annual Mayor’s American Dream Award recipient. Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Executive Director Carolyn Mentesana was the inaugural recipient of this honor in 2022.

The ticketed, in-person event will be hosted by the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and will be broadcast on the City of Arlington’s Facebook page. The Arlington Highlands is this year’s presenting sponsor.

The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce will also honor its 2023 Small Business of the Year recipients at the 18th annual event, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • For-Profit Recipient: mma, inc.
  • Nonprofit Recipient: Rotary Club of Arlington and United Way of Tarrant County
  • Veteran-Owned Recipient: Invictus Legacy Builders
  • Woman-Owned Recipient: BrandEra Inc. and Kos/Danchak Audiology and Hearing Aids
  • Minority-Owned Recipient: Smoke’N Ash BBQ and Upton Real Estate

The awards portion of the program is sponsored by The University of Texas at Arlington College of Business.

The entire State of the City address will be recorded and replayed on the City's government cable channel on AT&T U-verse Channel 99 or Spectrum Channel 16, 15.1 (digital).
