Arlington Ranked Among Top 10 Hardest-Working Cities in America

In a recent study from personal finance website WalletHub, Arlington is among the top 10 hardest-working cities in America. Arlington has climbed five spots in the rankings, from #15 in 2024 to #10 in 2025.

The study compared the 116 largest cities across 11 metrics under two key dimensions, “Direct Work Factors” and “Indirect Work Factors.” These metrics included employment rate, average weekly work hours, share of engaged workers and average leisure time, among others.

WalletHub utilized data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Travel Association, Gallup, Social Science Research Council and Corporation for National & Community Service.

Arlington’s diverse and educated workforce contribute to a number of industries, including health care and social assistance, retail trade, manufacturing and educational services, to name a few. The University of Texas at Arlington and its alumni drive an annual economic impact of $28.8 billion to the State of Texas, with research projects contributing $24 million to the national economy in 2024.
